BRONZE Age and Anglo-Saxon jewellery found on a field in Bidford with a metal detector has been declared treasure-trove.
An inquest at Leamington Town Hall on Friday heard how Robert Laight, of Toms Town Lane, Studley, found a gold pendant and ring.
Mr Laight carried out investigations in a field near Bidford with the consent of the landowner, who did not attend the inquest.
In September 2000, Mr Laight found an Anglo Saxon gold pendant which he reported to the Warwickshire County Museum.
And in July last year, while looking in the same place, he found a Bronze Age penannular ring and again reported it to the museum.
The ring was examined by the pre-history department and dated as from the late Bronze Age, about 1150 to 750 BC.
But it was said at the inquest that the ring was impossible to analyse further as it was wrapped in another metal, possibly copper.
The gold pendant was forwarded to the curator of Anglo-Saxon works of the British Museum, who dated it to the second half of the 7th century.
The pendant is boarded with simple margins and made of gold with a garnet.
The two pieces will now go before a valuation committee to determine the cost of the items and Warwickshire County Museum will acquire both at the market value.
