ALCESTER police are on the lookout for wannabe bobbies who can give up their spare time to police the streets.
A recruitment campaign has already been set up to recruit volunteers from Alcester, Studley, Henley and Bidford to become special constables.
Special constable Alex Cockshott joined up two years ago and says he would recommend it to anyone.
Specials do much the same job as the average police officer, carry the same equipment, wear the same uniform and work when they can, usually committing four hours a week on Friday and Saturday nights.
If you're aged 18 and a half or over and physically fit, you can take part in the selection procedure.
Successful candidates will then be sworn in as special constables and have a period of classroom training before going out to patrol the streets.
Alcester's special constables will be holding a number of displays around the area in the coming months.
Anyone who would like to find out more, or would like to speak to a member of the Warwickshire Special Constabulary, can call either Insp Bailey at Alcester Police Station on 01789 762207, e-mail him at:
tim.bailey@warwickshire.pnn.police.uk or call Warwickshire Police recruiting team on 01926 415000.
