FIRE crews had only yards to travel to rescue a stranded motorist who was stuck in a crater caused by a burst water main.
The pipe burst on Saturday morning at the junction of Birmingham Road and Windsor Road in Enfield, creating a large hole just outside Redditch Fire Station.
Crews received an emergency call as gallons of water swept down Birmingham Road and into two houses.
They managed to pull the car out of the crater and tried to stem the flow of water with pumps.
The Fire Station was unaffected by the flooding.
