NATIONAL Trust parks and gardens were the subject of a talk by John Findlay at the first meeting of June.
First, he outlined the history of the trust, describing the different kinds of property in its care.
Then, with the aid of slides, he gave a history of the landscape and gardens, many of which have been reconstructed in their original style.
He also mentioned 'Enterprise Neptune' and the campaign to buy and care for more than 600 miles of coastline.
Rod Quilter led the first walk in June, when 16 members braved the rain for an eight-mile walk in the Forest of Dean.
However, shelter was found for lunch, courtesy of RSPB volunteers, in their observation hut and at the end of the walk, the weather having cleared, members enjoyed a cream tea.
On June 20, there was a short walk around Feckenham led by Diana Yates and Jean Nokes.
On the following Sunday, members enjoyed a five-mile walk around Studley led by Jill Hitchcock.
The second stage of the Wychavon Way, led by Diana Yates, saw 33 members continue this lovely path from Hanbury through woods and fields via Shell Ford to Abberton, a distance of 9 miles.
