BOWLS: Two teams of triples from Chester Road Bowling Club have reached the semi-final stages of the Worcestershire County Men's Triples competitions.
They could both qualify to represent the county at August's National Championships in Worthing as they have been kept apart at the last-four stage.
Bill Reeve's team, which included Gerald Wainwright and Tom Jones, beat David Little's Gilt Edge Bowling Club side 22-8 after 16 ends.
One vital moment saw Reeves take the end with his last bowl while Chester Road were six shots down.
They had previously seen off teams from Littleton, Malvern, Bredon and another from their own club.
The other semi-finals were Dave Durant, Alan Hall and Richard Payne who reached the semis by beating a strong Vines Park side by 11 shots.
They had previously accounted for Barbourne, Unison of Worcester, St Dunstan's and another Chester Road team.
Chester Road will celebrate its centenary in May 2003 and were invited to a match at Bewdley Bowling Club who are also marking 100 years.
More than 60 bowlers took part in a social match which was played all over the green and Bewdley ran out convincing winners.
Bewdley president Sid Vanes and Charlie Parmenter swapped early 2003 mementos with Chester Road president Graham Yarrington.
The evening was organised by Phil and Jayne Saunders and Chester Road will invite Bewdley to play in the rink format during their centenary year.
