MOTORSPORT: James Crumpton made a superb comeback from a dislocated shoulder with best newcomer award at the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man.
The Stourport motorbike racer finished third behind eventual winner Robert Dunlop and runner-up Ian Lougher in his first contest on the road circuit.
Crumpton, who has a busy schedule ahead of him, fell off his bike weeks earlier in the Isle of Man TT 250cc while lying third.
He declared: "It was my first race back and I had been unable to go training or anything because of the injury.
"It was also my first time there and I would have been happy with a top five or six position never mind getting on the podium.
"The weather was red hot all week and I really enjoyed the circuit."
Crumpton heads to Aberdare, Wales, at the weekend for a national road race before travelling over to Ireland for five weeks.
He will then compete in a series of big competitions, including the Ulster Grand Prix and the Mid-Antrim Road Races.
