ARTISTIC schoolchildren have turned their attention to global matters with the stunning refurbishment of a can bank.
Pupils at Windmill Middle School in Stourport have taken an active part in improving the recycling site on the Walshes Estate.
Once a dull skip, the children have turned it into a dazzling piece of art with the help of community artist Eric Klein Velderman. Katherine Meredith, 12, gets set to use the re-vamped can bank at Stourport.
"This is a well-used recycling centre," said Beth Williams of Wyre Forest District Council's Green Desk. "Last year, 1.2 tonnes of steel and aluminium cans and aerosols were collected from the recycling centre at the Walshes. This represents a very significant contribution to our environment."
The improvement project is a partnership between the district council and Wyre Forest Community Housing.
Walshes residents can find out more about the scheme on Monday, July 29 at a presentation at the community centre between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
