IS it any wonder that response times to life-threatening calls by the Hereford and Worcester NHS Trust can be affected (Shuttle/Times and News front page, July 4) when ambulances have to make a return journey to Worcester every time they are called out?

In the days when there was a full A and E service in Kiddermin-ster, an ambulance which had just dropped a patient off was immediately available for the next call.

Nowadays, an ambulance which has to travel to Worcester and back is unavailable for much longer.

Until such time that local emergency services are fully restored, the minimum the Hereford and Worcester NHS Trust must do is to base additional ambulances and paramedics in Kidderminster.

This is not rocket science, but a suggestion for the trust which seems to believe the best way to solve a problem is by denying it exists.
