THE box office at the Three Counties Showground has received a surge of telephone inquiries about next month's major new event as the July 26 advance ticket-booking deadline nears.
The Three Counties Agricultural Society is staging its first "Leisuretime Show" on Saturday and Sunday August 10 and 11.
"The new show is running as an addition to a record-breaking diary this year, which includes five other major events and more than 120 lettings.
Billed as "the most exciting show of the year," it's all about how people spend their free time and the content is drawn from sport and leisure, home and DIY, holidays and travel, food, health and beauty and the arts. Shopping will also feature on the agenda.
TCAS press officer Sharon Gilbert said: "Shopping is almost certainly a favourite British pastime, and our own research tells us that our showgoers enjoy a bit of retail therapy.
With an estimated 30,000 people drawn from all age groups expected to pay us a visit, the event offers businesses a huge shop window."
She added: "This is a fun weekend aimed at every generation of the family with a diversity of leisuretime pursuits.
"Because it is taking place during the school holidays, we anticipate an excellent turn out."
Tickets are available in advance on 01684 584924 at £7.50 (£9 on the gate), children 5-15 £1 (£2), family of two adults and three children £16 (£20). Free parking.
