THE sun shone on a group's bid to boost Kemp Hospice.
Kidderminster Horticultural Society raised £2,500 at an annual open day - cancelled last year because of the foot and mouth outbreak - at 13 gardens around Wyre Forest on Sunday.
A window box and hanging basket - which won the society a bronze medal at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show earlier this month - were raffled off and raised £200.
Plant and refreshment sales, competitions and entry fees added to the haul.
"It was a very good day. It's nice to raise so much money for charity," said society member Graham Ford.
