Two years ago I underwent major surgery and needed several blood transfusions and it is with sincere thanks to the medical profession and National Blood Service that I am able to write this letter.

I wish to commend the donors who give their blood, without question, to help save the lives of others.

I am disgusted and angry having read the article in the Ledbury Reporter (July 5) concerning the insensitive traffic warden (or whatever they are called nowadays) who issued the dreaded parking ticket to this wonderful organisation.

The NHS and related bodies need support, not hindrance. Which vehicle faces the ticket next . . . A hearse? An ambulance attending an accident? Or the Fire Brigade? Herefordshire Council, please take heed, the public are fed up with your dictatorial and insensitive attitude to parking. We are all fully aware that illegal parking needs to be curbed but surely a little common sense must come to the fore when dealing with emergency services and the disabled etc.

The emergency and community services are essential to all our lives. I need them and so do you. Please instruct your little servants to think about what they are doing before issuing tickets "willy-nilly"!
