Malvern Concert Club chairman Peter Evans has promised members a "mouthwatering" line-up for its forthcoming cent-enary season.
In a report to the club's annual meeting at Malvern College Music School on Thursday, Mr Evans highlighted cellist Ralph Kirsh-baum and pianist Peter Frankl's October visit to the Forum Theatre as a key date for the 2002/03 season.
He also said a work specially commissioned from Elgar-ian Anthony Payne for the autumn of 2003 would provoke much interest as part of the centenary season.
He described Kirshbaum and Frankl, who will include Mendelssohn's Sonata in B flat, Op.45 and Brahms Sonata No.2 in F, Op.99 in their October 24 concert, as two of the finest 20th Century musicians.
"It further enhances what looks to be an exciting season that one can urge all one's friends to attend without any recriminations," he said.
The Anthony Payne commission was, he added, something every member would be interested in, with ideas still being worked on.
Mr Evans was also happy to announce the visit of the club's president, Michael Kennedy, to St Edmund's Hall on April 6.
"It is great enough having a visit from our president but he will be earning his keep talking about Elgar chamber works," he said.
The 100th season begins on September 26 with Philippe Cassard (piano) and, after Kirshbaum and Frankl, continues on November 28 with Anthony Marwood and Catherine Manson (violins), Louise Williams and Vicci Wardman (violas) and Richard Lester (cello).
Zephyr Winds appear on January 30 and Priya Mitchell (violin) and Ian Brown (piano) play on February 27. The Nash Ensemble complete the programme on May 1.
In the centenary season the club plans to recreate part of its first programme from 1903.
All concerts are held in the Forum Theatre, Malvern Theatres, on Thursdays at 7.30pm and are open to non-members.
The box office can be contacted on 01684 892277. Members season tickets are available from Kirsten Ferguson on 01684 540103.
