Yesterday the members of the Hatherton Lodge of Freemasons, No. 2,474, Walsall, had their annual picnic in Malvern. The members, accompanied by their wives and friends, numbering about 60, arrived by special train at Malvern Link Station at 10.45. Entering charabancs, they proceeded to British Camp, half of the company driving via the Wyche Cutting and Jubilee Drive and the rest via Malvern Wells. Malvern Gazette, July 18, 1902.
On Wednesday night, John Heath, a labourer, was admitted to Ledbury Cottage Hospital. He was leaving the White Hart Inn, Church Street, when he slipped down the steps, breaking a leg. This was the third accident case admitted to the hospital in a week, and of these, two of the patients died. Ledbury Free Press, July 22, 1902.

Nine cases of poliomyelitis have occurred in Malvern in the past three weeks and as a precautionary measure parents of children attending local day schools have received notes from the Public Health Department suggesting that excesses of any kind - including bathing - should be avoided.

A threat of serious measures if Ledbury Rural Council did not make more effort to remedy the pollution of Colwall Brook by effluent from their sewage works was made by Mr Justice Harman. He said: "Shall I put the chairman in Brixton? That is the remedy I shall resort to, if nothing is done soon." Ledbury Reporter, July 20, 1952.

Work has started on installing new traffic lights costing over £4,000 in the centre of Malvern. The existing lights which control the four-way junction with Graham Road, Grange Road and Church Street are obsolete, says divisional county surveyor Mr John Garner. Malvern Gazette, July 21, 1977.
Extensions to Ledbury Abattoir have been approved by the southern area planning sub-committee of Malvern Hills District Council. Members unanimously agreed to "a calculated gamble" that the extension would reduce the nuisance complained of by residents, without increasing throughput later on. Ledbury Reporter, July 21, 1977.
