I AM writing in response to Mr Phillpott's review (The Hungry Years of the King's Life, Saturday, July 6).
I would like to touch on the "apparent" declining years of Elvis Presley's career, whether Elvis was in a "ridiculous showbiz cat suit", as Mr Phillpott put it, or not.
The intensity and feeling Elvis brings to his 70s concert performances for me are unequalled.
You only have to sit back and "really listen" to his performances and that's when you realise he was a unique performer, with the ability to stir emotions and affect the millions who were lucky enough to see him in concert.
To say these were the declining years, rather than the peak years, I find hard to conceive.
ANDREW BRYANT,
Worcester.
