WORCESTER fire station found some new recruits at the weekend as families flocked to its annual open day.
Children queued up to have a go at using one of the fire hoses to knock off targets.
Visitors enjoyed games and stalls, including a treasure hunt, raffle and tombola, and also had the chance to see displays of some of the station's rescue equipment. There were also fire engine rides for the children.
"This event is important because it helps us to show ourselves to the public," said sub-officer Dave Holland, from Green Watch.
"They see what we do and we also get the chance to offer fire safety advice."
The open day also raised more than £1,000, which will be split between two charities - The Salvation Army and the Fire Service Benevolent Fund.
