DAVID Park suffered a nightmare 11 on the par three 13th as his final round at the Open Championship in Muirfield ended in disappointment.

The Hereford golfer's round of 80, the highest on the final day, left him 10 over for the tournament and in 79th place.

The 27-year-old had birdied the 13th hole in his opening two rounds but dropped eight shots at the hole after finding trouble in a bunker.

His round also included two birdies and three bogies but at least he had the consolation of beating Europe's finest golfer Colin Montgomerie.

The big Scot whizzed round the course in just two-and-a-half hours for a final round of 75 and 82nd and last but one place following his disastrous 84 on the third day.

For Park it was a cruel end to a tournament which had seen him two under after opening rounds of 73 and 67 and with a third round 74 he was still in with a shout of a decent position but the difficult 13th hole ended any hopes of that.
