WORCESTER'S slump in form continued with a humiliating nine wicket defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury after being skittled out for just 52 runs.

Andy Barnard won the toss for the home side and invited Worcester to bat on a good pitch, and this proved to be the correct decision as he and his fellow opening bowler Ian Gillespie made dramatic inroads in to the visitors batting.

Despite two interruptions for rain, the Worcester innings was complete just after 3pm as they were bundled out for a meagre 52, their lowest score of the season.

Only two batsmen reached double figures (Taibu 16 and Binks 17) as Barnard grabbed 5-27 and Gillespie 5-24.

Shrewsbury reached 40-0 in comfort before another lengthy interruptions for rain took place, but when play resumed the required runs were soon on the board, although Worcester did take a consolation wicket.

Mark Davies with 23 not out lead the way as Shrewsbury reached 55-1 in the 12th over. The performance left Worcester with no points, Shrewsbury earning 20.

In the reverse fixture at the Gordon Jones memorial ground, the second XI earned a draw .

In a rain interrupted game the visitors scored 266-5 in their 50 overs with Andy Davies top scoring with 60.

Worcester received just 25 overs and ended up on 131-8 with Andrew Van-Vuuren top scoring with 49. Worcester received five points to Shrewsbury's 13.
