Many older citizens share the concern of J M Turner at what seems to be an attempt by racing organisers to erode citizens' rights on Pitchcroft (You Say, July 16).
I use its traditional name and do not refer to it as Worcester Racecourse.
Racing is a traditional activity on our public parkland and accepted as such, but any attempt to monopolise it is to be deplored.
A sign denying access to any citizen with his dog would clearly be unlawful and Worcester City Council should take immediate action to have such a sign removed once it is brought to attention.
Let it be clearly understood that Pitchcroft belongs to the people of Worcester and if the racing fraternity are dissatisfied, let them take their sport elsewhere.
