RARE pieces of Worcester porcelain are due to go under the hammer in a special auction.
The sale of first samples of manufactured items has been called because space is running out at the Royal Worcester Porcelain factory in Severn Street.
Some of the items have already been snapped up by the Royal Worcester Museum - and the rest should be of great interest to collectors.
"The pieces to be offered for sale provide a true record of many pieces produced in both shape and colourways," said Adrian Mackwell, auctioneer for Andrew Grant Fine Art Auctioneers, which is holding the sale of a large selection of items.
"The factory, being an old building, has space restrictions and the ability to store current production items was becoming very difficult. So a disposal via auction sale of older items was considered to be the best solution."
He stressed the items were not from the Dyson Perrins Royal Worcester Museum.
The auction is due to take place on Thursday, July 25, at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford, near Worcester.
