QINETIQ has signed an agreement with a leading supplier of military products and technology, which will see the two companies pursuing business opportunities with the armed forces together.

The partly Government-owned science and technology company has signed a non-exclusive collaboration agreement with INSYS Limited with a view to supplying "integrated solutions" to the armed forces.

QinetiQ is the former Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA), based in Malvern, and incorporates the bulk of the Ministry of Defence's non-nuclear research, technology and test and evaluation establishments.

It is already working with INSYS on several projects, including the British Lightweight Mobile Artillery Weapon System (LIMAWS) project.

Now the two organisations are seeking to further develop their relationship in recognition that both possess complementary skills, expertise and facilities that relate primarily to weapon systems.

David Anderson, managing director of QinetiQ's Future Systems Technology division, said he was delighted the relationship had progressed to a formal agreement, saying there were "clear benefits" for both parties.

"INSYS is very well respected and, like most defence companies, is keen to increase market share," said Mr Anderson.

"QinetiQ, with all its resources, its considerable capabilities in research, combined with its many scientific and technological accomplishments, brings a lot to the relationship."
