RAM-raiders smashed their way through the front of a Worcester shop in the early hours of this morning.

Police on the scene at Alldays, in Ombersley Road, confirmed a blue Nissan Bluebird had been reported crashing through the glass frontage at 1am.

Officers found the car 10 minutes later, dumped in Pembridge Street.

Another vehicle was seen driving away from the area, but police do not yet know if the car is connected with the raid.

Shocked staff arrived for work to find the shop boarded up and shelves and their contents strewn across the floor.

Until forensic experts have finished combing the scene for clues, they could not confirm if anything had been stolen.

"It is something that we could certainly do without," said a spokesman for Alldays.

"If it is just damage to the front of the shop, then it'll not be too bad.

"We'll have to see if anything valuable from the back of the shop has been stolen."

By 10am today the boards were being taken down, revealing two huge glass panels shattered by the impact and wrecked shelving and stock.

One man, who was removing the boarding, said repairs could take "weeks". Bosses were looking at rigging up emergency doors.

Anyone with information on the raid, or who saw the car being dumped, should contact police on 01905 723888.
