LAST weekend proved to be slightly more "restful" than normal for several members of the Bromsgrove Olympique's Youth Team.

The Friday evening track racing was curtailed after less than an hour due to a cloudburst which prevented any further riding on the banked track. Prior to the rain, Jason Dingley had ridden in the Freewheelers event taking 8th place, brother Ross also won his only event of the evening. Olympique Mountain Biker Wil Goulbourne also ventured onto the track on his new British Cycling "Talent Team" bike, riding well despite his very limited track experience.

Alex and Francine Billington meanwhile had a very early start for their trips to Holland and Belgium. They had to meet the British Schools National Teams minibus at 4.30am near Peterborough. Alex is to ride the five-day "Tour of Assen" in Northern Holland with twelve other British riders. Francine is staying a few weeks with a local family, racing and training with them.

Tomorrow (Thu) is the last ten-mile time trial this year - a series well supported by many local clubs.
