A YOUTH has been identified and spoken to by police following a string of incidents involving youngsters firing pellet guns in Woodrow.
Last week, the Advertiser reported on a joint campaign between police, Woodrow First School and residents which had been set up to target youths firing pellet guns near the school playground.
Pupils had been forced to stop using parts of the school premises because of the danger and one youngster received hospital treatment after being hit by a pellet fired from outside the grounds.
A police spokesman said: "As a result of the operation so far, investigations and increased patrols around the area have resulted in one youth being identified as the one responsible for some of the incidents.
"The youth has since been dealt with by police."
During the summer holiday, leaflets will be given to residents living around the area to warn them of the problem, raise awareness and appeal for information.
