A PAIR of second places left Winyates Green biker Andy Burbidge frustrated at the weekend despite pole position in his championship.

The young rider has trained his sights on winning the EMRA club championship and furthered his cause with the runners-up spots at Darley Moor on Sunday.

But he was unhappy at conceding the wins to title rival Tony Meredith.

The races crowned a hectic two days for Burbidge who is also racing in the New Era and Darby Phoenix events to get experience on new circuits.

The youngster started the weekend in the New Era series on his first outing at Oulton Park.

After being randomly drawn to start 38th on the grid in both races, Burbidge climbed to 17th in the wet on his first race, despite only having slick tyres, and finished 20th in the second event.

But the podium finishes mean Burbidge still has a 38 point advantage over Mereditch and has only to finish in the top three in the final four meetings to claim the title.

He is hoping to iron out the handling problems at Mallory Park on Sunday before the next round of the EMRA series on Sunday.
