PAT Brunt retained the Alan White Tournament at the weekend after teaming up with Mike Wyatt.
Brunt's winning partner last year Kevin Turner was a losing finalist in an event held in honour of the man central to the Club winning a £50,000 lottery grant.
The players were split into two groups and there were many good performances from players who did not reach the semi-final stage, notably Marie Wilcox and Mike Stanton.
The first semi was between Tony Fridgeon and Helen Hill who took on Wyatt and Brunt. Fridgeon and Hill found the set difficult, as their opponents had been on form all afternoon.
Despite numerous close rallies Wyatt and Brunt won 6-0.
The second semi saw Turner and Gifford against Pete Thomas and Sue Lee and Turner and Gifford played well to win 6-1 in a match which followed a similar pattern.
Alcester Tennis Club is running a series of crash courses for children aged five and up.
The first course runs from Monday to Friday with more courses in the subsequent weeks.
