BIRMINGHAM Repertory Theatre's musical celebration of the city has been such a sell-out success that it will be given a second run at the theatre next year.

Wallop Mrs Cox, which opened on July 3, features a cast of 60 non-professional performers from across Birmingham as well as BBC Radio WM's Malcolm Boyden.

The show, written by Euan Rose and Laurie Hornsby, played to more than 9,000 people.

Set in and around Birmingham's famous Bull Ring, it follows the fortunes and heartaches of the Cox family.

Life as a market trader over the last century is seen through the eyes of the resourceful, no-nonsense Emily Cox, who regards family loyalty and city pride as the only things of worth.

Wallop Mrs Cox will run from February 18 to March 1 next year and tickets are already on sale at the box office on 0121 236 4455.
