AVONCROFT'S Sunday team continued their recent run of fine form with another hard fought victory at home to Swan Alfrick.
The visitors batted first on a good batting track and reached 186 from their 40 overs.
Jon Bird(4-15) and Jimmy Deakin(1-21) the pick of the bowlers.
In reply, 'Croft were given a solid start by openers Dave Kendall and Mark Smith. Smith finally departed but Kendall (41) was well supported by youngster Matt Prescott (21). A mini middle-order collapse didn't halt 'Croft in their chase for victory as in-form batsmen of the weekend Jon Bird (43 not out) and captain Martyn Cound brought 'Croft home in the last over for a four wicket win.
With a number of players on holiday 'Croft put out an inexperienced side on Saturday and were made to work hard in the field by Dominies and Guild who reached 256 for 5.
Youngsters Andy Nichol and Will Gilmour bowled well with the latter taking two for 36.
In reply Croft managed a respectable 194 for 7 for a losing draw, with Rob Holden hitting 65.
