DEAR EDITOR - I have noted with interest the Government's idea of charging for the disposal of our household waste.
Obviously they are unaware of the extremely poor service that we receive here in Bromsgrove. Whilst living in Redditch I was supplied with a wheelie bin (my girlfriend who lived in Southampton had supplied multiple bins for recycling etc.)
This is beyond the means of Bromsgrove council who, lets face it, aren't in debt and have a considerable amount of money set aside. We have to supply our own bins, and we don't get them emptied on Bank Holiday weeks (even though my collection day is a Tuesday).
Let's not forget the huge council tax rise we suffered this year - which, instead of going on basic services such as this, went on increased councillors' expenses etc.
Well, it is election time coming up soon...
Rob Brown,
Bromsgrove.
