IT'S been a long time coming but now Woodlands View has named its number one and two top pools as Hay and Barley and on Tuesday the Northfield Starlets Veterans were there for their latest encounter.

Victory went to Harold Willey (Kidderminster), who continued his good form by short pole fishing luncheon meat at peg two for a 66lb 12oz catch, second place went to Mick Scott (Bewdley) with 54-9-0, and third Dave Bennett (Stourbridge) 51-4-0.

Also at Woodlands View the Affordable Open took place on Dean's Pool where close catches were recorded - topped by Steve Roberts (Woodlands) who pole fished meat at peg 23 for 76-12-0, second Brian Breakwell (West Mids) 74-4-0, third Paul Foster (Blackheath) 47-8-0.

Wednesday's Woodland's View Deans Pool Open saw Tony Holmes (Slapheads) use his favourite strawberry meat bait to scoop bonus peg 27's £360 top prize for an 82-12-0 catch, Jamie Masson (Hallcroft) was second with 72-6-0, and third Dave Brown (Fosters Tipton) 59-14-0.

At Astwood Fishery the Bluebell Pool Open was won by John Halfpenny (Astwood) with a waggler and corn catch by fishing to the point of the island for 36-12-0, second Dave James (Astwood) 22-9-0, and third Paul Webley (Kateshill A.C.) 21-13-8.

The Moorlands Farm Bank and Meadow Pool Open produced some good catches - headed by David James (Lifestyle) by pole fishing cat meat at Meadow pool peg 55, for a 98-4-0 catch, Steve Watson (Strettons) was second with 83-4-0, third Mike Lutwyche (Fosters) 69-6-0.

At Woodlands View's Ghost Pool the C and M match group event was won by Rick Haynes (Barnt Green) with pole fished corn over a very heavy caster feed at peg three for a ton-up catch of 111-13-0, second Dave Hancock (Northfield) 97-10-0, and third Dave Taylor (Rubery) 95-0-0.

The Lodge Park Three-hour Evening Open saw Redditch matchman George Baker (Studley Road A.C.) in good form by feeder fishing for a 26-1-0 carp catch from peg 41. Birmingham's Colin Woodward was a close second with 25-6-0, and third Andrew Hawthorne (L.P.A.A) 20-10-0.

On Thursday Telefish A.C. fished an annual 11-man aside challenge against Northampton Telecom A.C., at Grebe Fisheries, Grebe pool, Wolvey, and it was Northampton's Mark Smith who took the individual honours by controller fishing dog biscuits at peg 10 for 54-4-0. It was yours truly, Tony Brunn (Telefish), who was second with 38-8-0 by normal match fishing pole and meat for a mainly small fish catch of crucians, and third was Mark Butler (Northampton) 35-0-0. Northampton were the top team with a 207-7-0 total to Telefish's 175-13-0.

The NFA National Disabled Regional qualifier was fished at Woodlands View's Arles Pool with the top five going through to the August final. Winner was Vic Cutts (Starlets Veterans) who pole fished corn at peg eight for 44-14-0, Ken Renshaw (Midland Bears) took second place with 29-8-0, third Stan Harris (Telford) 28-7-0, fourth Al Lees (Midland Bears) 28-0-0, and fifth Alan Price (Nuneaton) 21-14-0.

Hawford Mill, Claines, was the setting for the K.H. Veterans event but the expected big catches failed to materialise and winner Mick Scott (Bewdley) needed just 12-4-0, taken with pole and worms up in the water from Top Pool peg nine, second Derek Buckle (Stourport) 10-10-0, and third Bob Treadwell (Wythall) 7-9-0.

On Friday the Moorlands Farm Costcutter Open saw Stourbridge matchman Andy Newton (Lifestyle) take a top catch of 95-4-0 with pole fished corn from Moors Pool peg eight. His team mate David James followed with a close 94-7-0, third Mark Tooze (Lifestyle) 73-3-0.

At Woodlands View the afternoon Arles and Dean Pools Open gave some good catches with Rob Cooksey (Spartans) showing the way by pole fishing corn and meat at Dean's peg seven for a 126-0-0 carp haul, runner up Neil Machin (Garbolino) had 101-9-0, while third was Terry Bintiff (Notts) 83-0-0.

On Saturday Woodlands View played host to the long awaited Kamasan final which was fished on Arles and Dean Pools and the 2002 champion is Darren Cox (Map Starlets) who pole fished corn and meat at Dean's peg 39 for a 95-14-0 catch. Neil Machin (Garbolino) took second spot with 75-11-0, and third Steve Conroy (Kamasan) 73-10-0.

Twenty-two teams of four competed in round six of the Moorlands Farm Summer League and it was Jason Neath (Shakespeare Blue) who took the top individual honours by pole fishing chopped worms and casters at Moors pool peg 16 for a 72-1-0 catch. Runner-up David James (Lifestyle) had a devil of a catch from Bank peg six where he pole fished at six metres for 66-6-0, third Darren Clewley (Wesson) 66-2-0. Top team on the day were Shakespeare Blue with 14 points, Tipton Vespe 23, Top 4s and Kamasan Kids both 29. Overall Shakespeare Blue lead with 26, Wesson 28, Top 4s 36.

On Sunday the Moorlands Farm Open was won by Neville Groves (Walsall) by pole fishing corn at golden peg seven on the Moors Pool, worth £500 for his 93-6-0 catch, David James (Lifestyle) followed with 79-8-0, third Ian Whitehouse (Wesson) 69-15-0.

The Birmingham Civil Service first leg of its President's Cup was fished at Elmdon Pool with Sheldon top rod Paul Woods having a clear victory. He pole fished cat meat to the island and the margins of peg 14 where he put together a 48-8-0 carp catch. Chris Hughes (Sheldon) was second with 33-8-0, and third Gary Goodman (Shirley) 29-15-0.

Clear Plas AC, fished their event at Sillygrove Fishery in the Wyre Forest with Mick Smith (Rubery) pole fishing meat at peg 12 taking carp up to 11lb 6oz in his 23-6-0 total, second Chris Haynes 12-12-0, third John Butler 10-0-0.

At Astwood Fishery the Buddleia Pool Open was won by Rob Francis (Droitwich Angling) by pole fishing worm and casters at peg 71 for a 17-0-0 mixed catch, second Rick Moselely (Droitwich Angling) 16-10-8, and third Trevor Hodges (Reservoir Dogs) 15-10-8.

Alvechurch Fisheries Horseshoe Pool Open was headed by Mark Bradley (CSM) with a pole corn and meat catch of 55-8-0 from peg one, second Albert Jones (C.S.M.) 32-12-0, third Scott Foxall (C.S.M.) 32-0-0.

The Woodlands View Afternoon Open was attended by 81 hopefuls and it was Ian Lockley (Map Starlets) that took the honours from Dean's Pool peg 27 by pole fishing strawberry meat for a ton up catch of 129-3-0, Klaus Fix (Tek-Neek Trabucco) was second with 98-4-0, third Giles Cochrane (Pill Angling Sarfix) 91-8-0.
