REDDITCH could be set to turn to youth again at the weekend as he continues the club's policy of nurturing the next generation of talent.

With the current season slipping into a mid-table finish, Mason could promote more youngsters alongside regulars Richard Stokes and Richard Young.

With the captain unavailable through work commitments and bat Chris Gibson on holiday for Saturday's trip to third placed Shifnal (1pm start) the first team door could be left open.

Axel has caught the eye with a timely 70 on Sunday and could come into the frame along with Worcestershire under 17s bowler Steve Rose.

Redditch gained a winning draw at Pelsall in a match interrupted by showers. Pelsall, asked to bat, made 143-9 off 52 overs when the rain came down, with Young taking 3-25, Mason 2-45 and a wicket each for Ben Davis and John Lostitch.

In reply Redditch slumped to 56-5 and after a further delay the target was reduced. Ben Davis with 35 not out and Young (15) eased Redditch nearer leaving Mason to score the runs for a draw.
