YOUNG space cadets jetted off to the unknown when they performed in an end of term school play.

Pupils from Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School, in Crutch Lane, performed Blast Off - a story about a teacher who takes his pupils on a school trip to Jupiter.

The nine to fifteen-year-olds donned space suits to give the play an authentic feel as parents, family and friends flocked to see their masterpiece.

Everyone pulled together to ensure the play went off with a bang. A rocket which took off was made in the school and some of the costumes were produced by the textiles department.

Other clothes came form the Norbury Theatre and parents.

Head of English, Janice Charmers said: "The production was very successful after everyone's hard work.

"We couldn't have done it without the help of so many people, particularly our dyslexia specialist, Mavice Tudman. All in all it was an explosive performance."
