IT was a welcome return for the Britain in Bloom judges to Alcester on Monday as the whole town flowered for the hotly contested competition.
Alcester in Bloom chairman Maggie Payne and her town councillor husband, Eric, accompanied two judges from the Heart of England Tourist Board around the town to record their findings.
The morning started with a loud awakening from town crier Keith Tomlinson, who welcomed the guests outside St Nicholas' Church before the church bells rang out.
Then it was off to view the wonderful displays of flowers, including Malt Mill Lane.
The judges are visiting about 50 towns and cities in the Heart of England section.
Monday was the eleventh time Alcester had entered the competition.
The town had to pull out last year because of a row with Stratford Council over grass cutting.
The results of the competition will be announced on August 30.
