THE majority of Worcestershire people enjoy some of the best water quality in the country, according to a Government watchdog.
The Drinking Water Inspectorate's recently published annual report claimed Severn Trent had one of the best standards in the UK.
It also said that the general quality of drinking water throughout England and Wales was much improved.
The report showed that out of 273,907 Severn Trent samples tested by the inspectorate, 99.91 per cent complied with the Government's strict drinking water standards.
"Drinking water quality in the region is of an extremely high standard with most customers receiving water quality exceeding national standards," said David Drury, West Midlands drinking water inspector.
"This is very good news and reflects both stringent enforcement by the inspectorate and the hard work being done by the water companies."
