AT the July meeting, members celebrated the institute's 36th birthday, combined with the Golden Jubilee party.
The 41 members were joined by special guest Mariatu, from The Gambia, and enjoyed food from the 1950s.
Fish paste and Spam sandwiches, cheese and brown sauce, blancmange and jelly with Carnation milk were among the many delights.
The room was filled with red, white and blue flags and fancy hats.
Everyone had a go at the quizzes, readings and the beetle drive ran out of time.
The president congratulated those members who carried off prizes at the county craft rally. Jill Gallagher gained a first for her Jubilee embroidery.
The skittles team made the semi-finals but came fourth in the joint final.
An invitation was received from the council to attend the Independent Living Day at the town hall.
Betty reported the London coach is full for October.
The August meeting will be a skittles night at the Swan, Studley, at 7.15pm.
