MEMBERS visited Julia Scott's The Walled Garden in Worcester.
Julia uses organic methods to grow herbs of all types - medicinal, culinary and purely ornamental.
She also grows old fashioned fruits such as medlars and mulberries.
Egremont russett apple trees are trained and pruned into 'four armed cordons'.
Lettuce and radishes could be found perched in a small, wooden bed, raised to about a metre above ground level.
The four supporting legs are surrounded by moats of water to deter slugs.
Julia showed her method of composting, which takes just six weeks, again using a herbal mix to accelerate the process.
Crops are fed with diluted liquid feed produced from soaked comfrey leaves.
