THE Elgar Birthplace Museum has hosted the national launch of the release of Ken Russell's documentary about the composer on video and DVD.
Filmed on location in Worcestershire and Herefordshire in the 1960s, the 56-minute film was originally produced for the BBC series Monitor.
The video and DVD has been released with 15 minutes extra footage showing Elgar at the Three Choirs Festival, with his beloved dogs, and conducting part of Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 at the opening of the Abbey Road studios.
There is also extra commentary by Ken Russell and Elgar biographer Michael Kennedy on the DVD.
"We were delighted to host the national launch of the video and DVD of this imaginative film, which was shot on location in Malvern and Worcester and here at Broadheath," said Catherine Sloan, from the museum.
"We know that, for many people, this outstanding film on Elgar was their introduction to a lifelong interest in the man and the music."
