Brintons Athletic 3, Evesham Utd 3

IN the second of their pre-season friendly games Evesham United travelled to Brintons Athletic and were been disappointed to come away with only a draw against lower graded opposition after leading 3-0 at half-time.

The half was dominated by Evesham and they opened the scoring after 16 minutes when James Brown managed to push the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.

The lead was doubled in the 24th minute, when from a corner the ball bobbled around in the goalmouth and Kasey Zambula managed to get his foot to the ball and steer it into the net.

On the half hour a delightful session of slick inter-passing on the edge of the area gave Phil Preedy the time and space to pick his spot for number three.

The second period started with Brintons on top and after a piece of poor defending by the Robins' rearguard they pulled one back after 52 minutes. The game at this point was starting to deteriorate into a disjointed, niggly affair with the referee continually stopping play to award free kicks.

Things got worse for Evesham when two goals in a minute levelled the scores.

l UNITED are without a game on Saturday but next Thursday they travel to play Bishops Cleeve in a pre-season friendly, kick-off 7.30pm.

On the same evening, United's youth team take on Racing Club of Warwick at Common Road in a pre-season friendly (7.30pm).
