A MUGGER sprayed a noxious substance in his victim's face - leaving him in agony on the floor - in an attack in Kidderminster town centre.
Police are trying to trace a man who chased the mugger away across the Bromsgrove Street car park in a bid to solve the crime.
The victim, a 26-year-old Kidderminster man, was walking up steps between McDonald's and Littlewoods leading from Worcester Street to Bromsgrove Street when he was accosted at 5.30pm on Friday.
His attacker, thought to be a black youth, demanded his wallet after pointing an aerosol spray at his face and threatening to spray him with CS gas.
When he refused, the man was sprayed with what police have described as "a noxious substance".
Having failed to get the wallet the youth then found himself pursued across the car park by a member of the public who police are keen to trace as a key witness.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
