I MUST agree with comments passed by John Norwood (Shuttle/Times and News, July 11), regarding Bewdley's Jubilee Gardens.

As a local resident and constant park visitor, I generally had been led to believe that the little waterfalls would run once more in this jubilee year.

Sadly, a foul, stagnating swamp is about all one can hope to enjoy on crossing the little adjacent footbridge.

The pond itself offers no further inducement. Murky, gloomy and with ominous signs of a fast-arising lining, it presents a sad spectacle. Indeed it is disgraceful.

Once we could spot those gorgeous golden carp swimming below its surface. We enjoyed watching the cascading pools which fed it.

Whatever has happened? Too many speed bumps to consider, perhaps?
