Bromsgrove Rovers secured a 5-1 Midland Alliance victory over Oadby Town with a 28-minute second half spell where they found the target four times.

The home team had taken the lead after only 14 seconds, Les Palmer picking the ball up in midfield before firing a low shot past the static Richard Hyland.

Although Rovers completely dominated the remainder of the first period they somehow failed to add to the scoreline, Hyland saving from Palmer, Marvin Blake and new signing Carl Tranter.

Rovers finally extended their lead two minutes into the second half. Oadby failed to clear Kevin Banner's right wing corner, Hyland tripped over his own player and Steve Frost headed into the unguarded goal.

Blake got the goal his perseverance deserved on 58 minutes when he evaded four challenges before beating the goalkeeper and then got his second ten minutes later when Hyland spilled Palmer's low drive from the edge of the area and the ex-Oadby forward was quickest to react.

Oadby scored from the penalty spot on 71 minutes through Daniel Poultney after Matt Lowe had brought down Ian Thompson in the area following an error in midfield by Bromsgrove substitute and joint manager Gary Hackett.

Bromsgrove completed the scoring ten minutes from time when Tranter's shot was glanced into the net by Palmer to keep the pressure on Stourbridge and Wednesfield at the top of the Midland Alliance.
