BROMSGROVE Rovers lost ground in the Midland Alliance promotion chase last night after losing 1-0 at home to title rivals Wednesfield.
Rovers enjoyed large spells of possession but created few clear chances and ultimately paid the price.
After a lacklustre first-half, early in the second half Rovers' Marvin Blake somehow failed to make contact with a cross six yards out.
The hosts went behind after 64 minutes. Holcroft twisted and turned the Bromsgrove defence before drilling a shot into the corner.
The closest Rovers came to an equaliser was Les Palmer's shot against the bar.
