WORCESTER City manager John Barton expects star signings David Foy and John Snape to deliver the goods when old rivals Kidderminster Harriers arrive at St George's Lane for a pre-season friendly tomorrow (3pm).

The City boss is looking for a return on his investment after bringing the duo to the club to strengthen his squad.

Both are set to feature and Barton intends to play a strong side against their Third Division neighbours.

"I don't know what sort of side they will bring but I'm sure it will be a strong one and they will be using the match as a vital part of their pre-season," he said.

"We will be putting out a strong side and have a few more available including Mark Shail and Snape.

"On the face of it we have a much stronger dressing room with the arrival of players like Snape and Foy but now it's up to them to fulfil their part of the bargain and perform," he added.

Former Harriers defender Mark Shail is set to start alongside Carl Heeley for City but Stewart Hadley is out as he recovers from an Achilles injection.

City still have a number of trialists at the club that could play some part against Harriers, but Barton is keen to whittle those down by next week. "We need to make a decision with regard to them so we can start to focus for the opening game of the season," he added.

Harriers plan to make changes from the line-up which lost 2-0 in Wednesday's friendly against Wolverhampton Wanderers reserves at Aggborough.

Boss Ian Britton said: "We'll probably move the side around and then for our last friendly against Cheltenham we'll have the team I'll start the season with.

"I've said all along that the friendlies are based on what we will start with in our first League game against Lincoln."

Harriers defender Ian Joy has been selected to train with the United States under-23 squad next week.

The American-born defender will join the squad for their preparations for a series of friendlies against Manchester United, Bolton, Crewe and Huddersfield.

Their national coach had asked for the 21-year-old to be allowed to play in the fixtures but Britton turned down their request due to the ankle injury sustained by full-back Scott Stamps on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Hednesford Town manager John Baldwin has joined the Aggborough board as an associate director.
