LEDBURY v GARNONS II

LEDBURY played hosts to Garnons II on Saturday and gained another emphatic victory.

After being put into bat Ledbury soon lost Kevin Smith bowled by C William for five.

This brought David Taylor to the wicket to join Rob Yeoman, the two of them being the in-form batsmen for Ledbury in recent weeks.

Taylor was soon in his stride regularly finding the boundary with a vast array of shots.

The Garnons bowlers had no answer and with Yeoman content to nudge the ball around Taylor began to score heavily. He reached his 50 in no time and then continued on his way towards three figures. He raced to his century which included four fours and two sixes and then just kept going.

The brilliant partnership was finally broken after 40 overs when Taylor was run out for a magnificent 169. Rob Yeoman then saw his way through to the close undefeated on 73. Ledbury closed on 278-3.

Ledbury knew as long as they kept their discipline the game was theirs and this was duly done.

With Peter Pritchard again bowling well he quickly picked up both openers. Peter Elkington at the other end was bowling accurately and it wasn't long before he too picked up two wickets, having R Jones caught behind by Jamie Bullock and bowling the dangerous J Blandford for ten.

The experienced Clive Jones replaced Pritchard and he soon found his rhythm and Garnons couldn't cope with his accuracy as Jones picked up three quick wickets.

Ledbury were nearly home and after a fine caught and bowled by Maurice Embrey to remove the experienced J Pritchard the last Garnons pair got themselves in a tangle and a run out finished off proceedings.

Peter Elkington finishing with 3-28, Clive Jones 3-24 and Peter Pritchard 2-42. The Ledbury bowlers making sure of a truly emphatic win.

Ledbury travel to Knighton on Saturday. Players meet 12.15pm prompt.
