THE widow of Cyril Bouston will be opening Bromyard Football Club's first ever stand on Thursday, August 8, before a commemorative match between the club and Hereford United.

Club chairman Tony Watkins said members had spent the last year building the new 120-seater terraced stand, which will be dedicated to Cyril.

He said Cyril, who died in March, 1999, had been involved with the club for 30 years and had loaned it a field to play on prior to the club acquiring its own ground at Stourport Road.

He said: "Cyril always had something to do with the football over the years. He was also one of Hereford United's members and they're coming over to play to honour his name."

Before the special match, Mrs Juane Bouston and her son Mark will unveil an engraved stone.

She said: "Cyril was a great all round sportsman; football, cricket and golf. I think this stand would have meant a lot to him because he was very Bromyard orientated."

Mr Bouston is also remembered with a memorial fountain at Upper Sapey Golf Club.
