NOW I know what 'dumbing down' really means! In your piece on Tom Wells, the Liberal Democrats' new prospective candidate for West Worcestershire (Malvern Gazette, July 19), the first piece of information we are given, apart from his age, is that he is a supporter of Hereford United.
To tell us that he likes football and that he supports a Midland team says nothing about him that has any relevance to an ambition to be our MP.
A few lines down the fact that he was a teacher, from which we might deduce that he is interested in education, is then tarted up with the information about his connection with a someone who, apparently, has been appearing in a popular TV show.
I hope that Mr Wells will be able to show the electorate that there is more of interest and importance to him than this trivialising piece would suggest.
