EVESHAM United triumphed 2-1 when they entertainted Dr Martens League Premier Division Tamworth in a pre-season friendly last night.
Early chances fell to Tamworth but it was Evesham who opened the scoring after 30 minutes.
A Tamworth attack broke down and the ball was played to Shaun Pratt who flicked the ball on for youth team player Danny James to run on and lob the goalkeeper, the ball going in off the underside of the bar.
Tamworth should have equalised in their next attack but from a free header the ball sailed over the bar. In the 55th minute Evesham created a good chance but from Phil Preedy's cross Pratt headed over the bar.
Tamworth spurned a number of chances before United increased their lead in the 70th minute. Pratt found Preedy in acres of space on the left and he had time to take the ball forward and power home from just inside the penalty area.
Tamworth eventually pulled a goal back nine minutes from time when Scott Rickards slotted home.
Both sides had further chances as the game drew to a close but Evesham hung on for a well-deserved victory.
