A GLITTERING evening-dress charity premiere for a new film of Oscar Wilde's brilliant The Importance of Being Earnest is being held at Malvern Cinema.
With the co-operation of production company Buena Vista, the movie will make its regional debut here on Thursday, September 5.
The film, directed by Oliver Parker, stars Dame Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Colin Firth and Edward Fox and has already proved a great success in the United States.
The timing could not be better, because Edward Fox is appearing in the Festival Theatre the very same week, starring in a production of The Winslow Boy. Organisers are hoping he will be able to join cinemagoers at the charity premiere.
The night begins at 8pm with a champagne reception in the foyer with piano music, and the film is screened at 8.45pm. The showing is followed by a period-style buffet.
Tickets are £18 for the champagne reception and the film, and £35 for the reception, film and buffet. Twenty per cent of the proceeds go towards the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.
