FUN in the sun for all the family was the order of the day at Worcester's Cripplegate Park.

Entertainment on Saturday included a giant game of draughts, face-painting, a clown, a magic show and a bouncy castle.

There was also a serious side to the event. Visitors were invited to have their say on the future identity of the park, with tips on setting up a Cripplegate Park Friends Group available at a workshop.

The fun day was a way of thanking those who took part in a survey about the park at the beginning of the year.

"Parks are a prime focus for community life - places where children and families can enjoy themselves," said Worcester City Council community and development officer Chris Waterfall.

"There was a fair amount of people interested in setting up a Friends Group, and there will be a meeting in the middle of September to discuss this.

"The event went very well indeed - three or four hundred people came down and stayed for some time."
