CITY councillors have blocked plans for an extension to a house in Warndon after listening to objections from a neighbour.

At a meeting of the planning committee, members heard from Peter Jennings, of Wirlpiece Avenue, who said the proposed extension to a house on Burtree Avenue would overshadow his property.

"I don't wish to stand at the foot of my garden, hold my arm in the air and touch the side wall of my neighbour's property," he said.

The councillors supported his objections and voted unanimously to refuse planning permission.

"The more I look at the plans, the more I realise that the scale is far too big for this development. It is overbearing," said Councillor Mary Drinkwater.
