A motorist was airlifted to Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital with serious head injuries after a collision in Hereford.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene at 3.20pm on Wednesday, after a red VW Vento and a red Nissan Micra collided on the A44 near the Golden Cross junction.
The driver of the Nissan was airlifted to Selly Oak but was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth II hospital where his condition was today said to be critical but stable.
The driver of the VW escaped injury.
